Scientists at US test mRNA-1273 – the potential Covid-19 vaccine

Kaiser Permanente study leader Dr.Lisa Jackson told TRT WORLD that Covid-19’s vaccine isn’t made from virus. The vaccine does have genetic code that restricts the cells in wthe body to prepare the protein that coronavirus produces in order to start immune response against that particular protein.

“We’re team coronavirus now,” Kaiser Permanente study leader Dr. Lisa Jackson said on the eve of the experiment.

Scientists at the Kaiser Permanente Washington Research Institute in Seattle began the much awaited first-stage study of a potential COVID-19 vaccine developed in record time after the new virus exploded out of Wuhan and began threatening the masses worldwide.

The vaccine code-named as mRNA-1273, was developed by the US National Institute of Health and Massachusetts-based biotechnology company Moderna Inc.

The potential vaccine for Covid-19 includes a short segment of genetic code copied from the virus that scientists have been able to make in a laboratory.

This genetic code has been copied from the virus that causes the disease.

The volunteers who are being tested for Covid-19 vaccine could not get infection because the shots do not contain the coronavirus itself.

It’s not the only potential vaccine in the making. Dozens of research groups around the world are attempting to create a vaccine against COVID-19 pandemic.

The big concern is that even if the research goes well, a vaccine would not be available for public use for about 12 to 18 months. The statement regarding the availability of Covid-19 vaccine was given by Dr. Anthony Fauci of the U.S. National Institutes of Health.
